review :: David Lynch, “Catching the Big Fish”

David Lynch’s “Catching the Big Fish” is an inspiring, refreshing introduction to creativity and meditation. Lynch briefly covers many topics, from managing his film crews to filming Eraserhead on a shoestring to his daily meditation routines.

I recommend this to anyone looking for insights about opening awareness to new ideas, managing a team, seeking an intro to meditation, or encouraging yourself to continue exploring consciousness. Lynch describes creativity as something you have to be ready to receive. To increase how many ideas you can receive from your experiences, you can clear and expand your mind with meditation.

He describes how he builds a sense of creative vision amongst his team, adapt new ideas from his team mates, and reject outright ideas that don’t or no longer work. And he inspires in describing his meditation routine (20 min twice daily).

Also worth exploring are some of Lynch’s lectures. (Jeremy – thanks for the mighty intro!).
