On the Projects tab you can listen to my latest sketches. Some are improvised or require major work but I figured I’d share them as works-in-progress. With composing, I’m working on expressing whatever needs to come out, and trying not to judge too much at first. Later will come the editing, and after I upgrade my sound software I’ll start moving some of these into recordable territory.
Quick update on perfect pitch exercises. After ~8 weeks I have developed “mental play” ability with Bach’s 2-part Invention No.1 so that I can hear the pitches accurately from start to finish, when I play only the starting note. (C3 for the right hand; C2 for left). The process of daily morning practice — starting with 1-measure increments and progressing to the full 22-measure duration of the tune — has been challenging and fun. For the next few weeks I will be starting to memorize and then mentally play Beethoven’s Moonlight Sonata (No. 14 in C# minor). I plan to do a longer post soon with more tips and learnings if anyone else is curious about cultivating absolute pitch.
